Corpse Flower Webcam

Posted Fri Aug 11, 2006, 10:13 AM ET

Watch the blooming of Brooklyn Botanic Garden's titan arum (Amorphophallus titanum), aka the "corpse flower" because it "releases a monstrous stench of putrefaction at peak bloom."

Pretty gross, no? Yet, since it rarely blooms in cultivation, a blooming incident is pretty special. Enter the BBG—they're webcasting a photo every 30 seconds so we can all watch, minus the putrefying stench.
