Attention Screen to Perform Live Saturday
Free jazz quartet Attention Screen, which I recorded live at Manhattan's Merkin Hall in February, are performing a 60-minute set Saturday May 12 at 12:30pm, to celebrate the release at HE2007 of the resultant CD. The set list includes four of the CD's six cuts, but as it's jazz I am sure the musicians—Bob Reina on piano, Chris Jones on fretless Fender bass, Mark Flynn on drums, and Don Fiorino on electric and lap-steel guitars, lotar, and ukulele—will use the recorded improvisations as starting points rather than destinations. They are going to rock the house! Later: while the band had to play an abbreviated set, they did indeed rock. As shown in Robert Deutsch's photo, the audience was help rapt as the players explored a wide range of musical influences—at one point pianist Bob Reina was inspired to break into a spirited rendition of "Anchors Aweigh" < Previous Post | Blog Home | Next Post >
