The nature of show reports is such that writers are always looking for new products, but exhibitors who have nothing new to introduce at a show tend to be less straightforward in their responses than Lionel Goodfield. Sometimes they're quite defensive, like the cantankerous designer of high end audio electronics whose response to my question “What’s new?” at this year’s CES was “Why should we have anything new? The Beatles are not new.” I was just asking… Or they may try to pass off as new a product that in fact has been introduced before. Whey pressed, they may say, “Well, yes, we had a prototype at last year’s CES, and we had a sample from an early production run at CEDIA, but we’ve changed the values of the capacitors we use in the phono section, so it’s really a new product.” So, thanks, Lionel, for saying that you have nothing new at the show. It does not make me think any less highly of Simaudio!
