Stereophile: YBA Design's Affordable Electronics

The Audio Refinement brand of affordable components from France's YBA is no more—problems with their Asian manufacturing partner, I understand. But there’s good news: Audio Refinement has been reborn as YBA Design, with a new Asian manufacturing facility that promises to be more reliable. The first two products in the line—designed by Yves-Bernard André, Mr. YBA himself—are the YA201 integrated amp and YC201 CD player, each priced at $1499. The industrial design is stunning in its elegance and simplicity, and, judging by the sound of a pair of Focal-JMlab 1007Be loudspeakers driven by the YBA Design combo, the performance is up to YBA's usual high standards.

I've always wanted to give YBA a listen, but don't have a local dealer who carries the brand. That's an attractive price that could persuade me to give UPS a chance to run-over them with a forklift. BTW, you guys are really doing a great job with the coverage and I'm enjoying living vicariously through your posts.

I have the Audio Refinement Complete and am very happy will this new line be an upgrade or just a replacement of the old line?

There is a preference for projects in Los Angeles or New York or those having an international component. At present, The Gary Winnick Family Foundation does not publish an annual report or grant list.
