Stereophile: Proac Studio Series

We're suckers for Proacs, so we were delighted to hear importer Richard Gerberg explain that the Studio line was designed to be affordable. "Well, affordable for Proac," Gerberg said. Our hearts fell—until Gerberg told us that the handsome stand-mounted Studio 110s were $1500/pair and the floorstanding Studio 140s were $2800/pair. Not cheap, but in line with our expectations for the venerable Northamptonshire manufacturer.

Proac is always pretty close-mouthed about the internal specifics, but we can tell you the driver complements. The 110 has a 6.5" proprietary coated cone midrange/woofer and a 1" coated silk dome tweeter. The 140 uses the same drivers, but has two of the mid/woofs.

The sound was very refined—the Studio series may be "affordable," but they don't need to make any apologies.

i have a set of the studio 110's with a cyrus system bi amped. one word Focused, there ability to put the singer in the middle is crazy good, great all arounders

Up date well remember me saying how great my levinson 51 sounds !! it still does !1.... when it plays movies ???? ......!!!! Really . IT glitches , stops half way through the movies , or worse won't play them at all , Movies out of my zone ??? . Got them at future shop ? and whats up with the play bottons not working? on some movies ?!?!?!. you have to use the entry button , odd my sony dvd ends up hooked to my system almost as much as my levinson Why !!!!! ooooo Why !!!! please tell me im not the only one with these problems !!, I drempt of owning levinson my whole life !! turns out that dream was a night mare!!, O by the way i took my amp to a very reputable levinson dealer the one that sold me this junk and they new the amp was d.o.a when i got it !1 , and guess what !!, amp has to go to texas for repair? not going to replace new for new ,, and guess who pays the shipping ?!?!?, thats wright the chump that bought the shit !! Really I just want this night mare to end !! Don't by Levinson
