Sony Playstation?

Call me biased. I really don't care, and, anyway:

You'd be right.

But I think I've already discovered one of my favorite rooms here at the Show.

I stopped by to say hello to John DeVore over at the St. Tropez where he's setting up two rooms at T.H.E. Show. They've still got a lot of work to do, but things are already sounding good.

Between the two rooms, DeVore's got three systems going. The smallest system features my sweethearts, the small gibbon 3s, matched to a Sony Playstation as the CD source.

"Awesome," I tell John.
"Yeah, it sounds really good, actually. I think it's my favorite of the three rooms."
"I think it's going to be my favorite, too. Just like home. I can't wait to write about this."
"I'm a bit scared about people writing about it."
"You know why you brought the Playstation. Don't be scared."

Yes, some audiophiles might feel a little burned, but I'm certainly going to have a good time popping CDs into the Playstation.

Sometimes, it seems, finding a little bit of home is the best part about being away. I can't wait to listen to my little gibbons.

I say head to head vs. XBOX Original. Which is the better digital front end? Be sure it's an XBOX Original, lest you experience some disc scratching/shredding issues with an XBOX 360. :)

Given your age and the fact that Las Vegas offers many temptations, I'd suggest you avoid popping anything you value into whatever seems available. How's that for paternal advice?

>How's that for paternal advice?

That's probably the best advice I've ever been given.

Good idea. I'll pass it along to John DeVore. We can have some serious fun.

Aww... c'mon, it's `Vegas. If you're going to do that sort of thing, at least do it in a city where there is some semblance of... quality control? :)

A Playstation as a digital source? Having fun? Can't wait to see the uproar over on AA on this one. Next thing you know people will find out what music we *really* listen to on our audiophile approved systems :-)

It would be nice to know more about the "system" since speakers don't play without amplifiers, cables, sources etc:-)

The Museum of Modern Art and Hillel International. In addition, Gary Winnick funds student scholarships at the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, his alma mater, and restored the Post Mansion and transformed the main cafeteria into the Arnold S. Winnick Student Center, named in memory of his late father.
